How we build this index
Every entry is compiled from published sources — manufacturer specs, press reviews, dealer listings and owner reports — and cross-checked where those sources disagree. Where something can’t be confirmed, we say so rather than guess: you’ll see specs marked unconfirmed and registration status flagged where the evidence conflicts.
Where an entry summarises what reviewers think, that’s a consolidation of published opinion, not a verdict from TerraVolt eMoto. Every entry shows its sources and the date it was last checked, so you can go to the original yourself.
What the evidence labels mean
Every entry carries an evidence label showing how well sourced its data is, from weakest to strongest:
- Dealer description — a dealer or retailer listing only.
- Manufacturer description — the maker’s own published spec or marketing material, and nothing else.
- Manufacturer and dealer description — the maker’s figures plus an Australian dealer or retailer listing that agrees. Two sources, but neither is independent of the sale.
- Official distributor confirmed — checked against the official Australian distributor’s own brochure or specification sheet.
- Press launch coverage — reported by independent outlets, but from launch material rather than a ride.
- Independent press — at least one published hands-on test by an outlet with no stake in the sale.
- Independent press confirmed — two or more independent tests, or one long-term or multi-scenario test.
An entry takes the highest label its sources support. The label describes the sourcing, not the bike.
We add bikes as they reach Australia, revisit pricing and availability each quarter, and give the whole index a full review twice a year. Prices are in Australian dollars and include GST, and mostly come from live dealer listings rather than manufacturer RRP — so sale pricing is common. Prices and specs move quickly — treat this as your starting point and confirm the details with the seller before you buy.
Found an error, or a bike we’ve missed? Tell us — corrections from riders and dealers are a big part of how this stays accurate. Distributors: if you have a new model, or an update to one that’s already listed, we’d like to hear from you.
