Arctic Leopard will give its all-new XC Pro a world premiere at EICMA in November. If it tiers its bikes the way Bonnell does, the Varg may finally have company at the top end.

The XC Pro gets its world premiere at EICMA in Milan, 3–8 November. And the XD Pro, already launched at CIMA in China earlier this month, gets its European launch at the same stand.

We know a bit about the XD Pro already: 35 kW, a 74V semi-solid-state pack, a choice of KYB, RFloXa or KKE shocks, 200 km claimed range and 120 km/h. Arctic Leopard’s US distributor lists 21/18 wheels and calls it “larger, faster, stronger”. Full-size rims — though Arctic Leopard fits those to its lighter XE PRO R as well, so the wheels alone don’t settle where it sits.

So where does it sit? For comparison, the Bonnell 805 runs 42 kW and 99 kg, and Bonnell steps up from there to the 902 at 65 kW. On power, the XD Pro lands just under the 805. Which makes the XC Pro the interesting one — because if Arctic Leopard is tiering these the way Bonnell tiers its two, the XC is their 902 equivalent — and another contender in the Stark Varg realm.

Arctic Leopard has said almost nothing about the XC Pro. Its US distributor teased “the Arctic Leopard XC” ahead of its CIMA reveal with “unmatched power and dominance on any track” — whether the XC Pro is that bike making its European debut or a step above it isn’t yet clear. Either way, the promise suggests they might be going head-to-head with Stark Varg on horsepower — but we’ll see. It would also be a big step up for Arctic Leopard — nothing they build today goes past 37 kW.

Here is why it matters. The list of top-end electric motocross bikes available to the public has been very short for a long time — basically just the Stark Varg — noting the Bonnell 902 is still not actually available. If Arctic Leopard turns up in Milan with a genuine top-end MX bike priced anywhere near the rest of their range, the Varg finally has some competition (while we wait for the Bonnell 902).

Three critical numbers are still missing for the XC Pro: power, weight and price. They decide whether this is real competition for the Stark Varg or another model that likely competes on price but falls short on performance.

Five weeks until Milan.
